Equally impressive is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, which is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Atlas Peak and Calistoga. Opaque purple to the rim, with beautiful notes of charcoal embers, melted road tar, truffle, blackberry and cassis, this big, unctuously textured, full-bodied wine has incredible density and richness, a full-bodied mouthfeel and a phenomenal finish. It is young, but undeniably impressive. Give it another 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following two decades-plus.
Robert Foley, of course, became well-known during his 15-year stint as the winemaker at Pride Mountain Vineyards, high above Spring Mountain. However, he has also made wine at other well-known sites known for quality, including Hourglass, Switchback and Paloma. He only has three wines under his name, and they are all noteworthy efforts. -Robert Parker, Jr.

“Very deep purple-black in color, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Nathan Coombs Estate slowly reveals enticing notions of fresh blackberries, wild blueberries and black raspberries with emerging suggestions of cassis, tilled earth, tar and tobacco leaf. Full-bodied, the palate delivers firm, beautifully ripe tannins and tons of tightly wound, muscular black fruits with a whole myriad of savory accents and great tension, finishing with jaw-dropping purity and length. Consider broaching this sleeping giant in 4-5 years and drink it over the next 25 years+.”
This is a very, very special library offer from our friends at Val di Suga and is also a very limited one. There are only a few of these amazing six-pack collector’s boxes for sale. Two bottles each from Val di Suga’s three single vineyard sites. Val di Suga is the only Brunello producer that controls three separate estate vineyards located in three specific climate zones in the appellation. Each vineyard site has its own unique exposure and geo-climatic features which expresses itself in every bottle. Not to be missed. *Original wooden boxes come included.*
For the first time, we have the 2021 Abbonna Dolcetto Langhe in house. This is a fantastic and fun bottle to enjoy on it’s own, but it is also a showstopper with pizza. Made for those who love their wines with inky dark fruit, this boasts a jet black color with aromas of black cherry, blackberries and baked cake spice. The Langhe Dolcetto is the product of extremely low-yielding but highly concentrated juice that comes from the younger vines of her Estate. Incredibly fun to drink and to smell — it’s also what some would argue is the best compliment to a good pizza pie with some meat on it!
Winemaker Marjorie Gallet’s Effet Papillon Rouge is a terrific blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignane, harvested from the iron rich soil just outside of Rivesaltes at the base of Pyrenees. This one is a vibrant wine, with aromas of wild black raspberries and sweet spices. The mid palate is rich and velvety, with a core of sweet black fruit that finishes fresh, long and silky. At the price, it’s one of the easier no-brainer case buys we offer.
