“This state-spanning Pinot Noir, which is based on 79% from Santa Barbara County with 21% more from Sonoma County, is hearty and rich on the nose with black cherry, wild mint and barrel spice aromas. The palate is viscous in texture and bold in flavor, offering more black cherry and a heavy dose of toasted spices.”
Using a minimalist approach, it’s amazing how Pali gets the most out of each and every vintage, with slow-ripening, cool-climate vineyards that yield beautifully balanced, high-toned wines. The style is very much fresh and zipped-up fruit – as opposed to heavy or overripe.
The Pali Santa Barbara/Sonoma Pinot is the most Burgundian in the winery’s lineup. Utilizing mainly the fruit from their foggy, coastal Santa Barbara vineyard, they produced a Pinot in 2021 that is highly focused and beautifully made and continues to pick up nuance in the glass.
