Monte Antico ‘Supremus’ Toscana 2020

92 Points, James Suckling

Supremus is sourced from six hectares of 50-year-old vines in Chianti Classico between Monteriggioni and Castellina. The blend is 75% Sangiovese, 15% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s just so smooth and silky with red berries, cherries, vanilla oak, and licorice with hints of cocoa on the finish. The balance is completely dialed with a velvety texture, making this beauty so fun and easy to drink. It comes attached with a rave 92-point review from Italian wine expert James Suckling, who called this delicious Super Tuscan “polished and textured.”

Original price was: $32.00.Current price is: $16.00.

The 2020 Supremus from Monte Antico is a gorgeous Super Tuscan produced by renowned winemaker Franco Bernabei in a collaboration with Neil Empson. Franco Bernabei is one of the most respected consultants in Italy, with three generations of his family in wine and a degree in viticulture and enology. He’s served as a consultant for some of the most prestigious estates in Italy—Folonari, Felsina, Fontodi, Sartori and Guicciardini Strozzi to mention a few.

When his name is attached to a wine, you have to pay attention. But when you can snag a bottle of this stature for less than what a Chianti Classico goes for, you have to jump on that opportunity as quickly as you can.
