Matias Riccitelli ‘Invader’ Semillon Mendoza 2023

Matías Riccitelli was born in Salta in northern Argentina. He deeply looked up to his mentor and father, Jorge, who encouraged him to travel the world, work harvests in multiple continents and gain as much experience as possible before deciding if this was the right career for him. After heeding his father’s advice, he traveled the world, worked harvests everywhere he could and in 2009 started his own venture.

The winery is in Las Compuertas, the highest area of Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. Their vineyards, situated in the region’s best terroirs, include 20 hectares of old, ungrafted vines in Las Compuertas. He champions all grapes here, not just Malbec as is the case with most of his neighbors. His work with Semilion in particular is noteworthy, as these are some of the purest, most interesting expressions of the grape you can find anywhere in the world.
