If you’re keeping score at home, just about nobody outside of Napa is enjoying the kind of success that Marietta Cellars has achieved over the past few years. In addition to Cabernet, they’ve planted nearly 400 acres of Syrah, Zinfandel, Barbera, Grenache, Petite Sirah, and Carignan.

That’s how owner Scot Bilbro earned Wine Enthusiast’s 40 Under 40 Tastemaker status for his “excellence in quality,” and why just about every single wine he makes is greeted with enormous scores from the world’s most respected wine critics.

The family’s OVR (Old Vine Red) is the showstopper in the lineup. It’s an under-$20 delicious Red field blend that seems to never score less than 92 from anyone. That’s thanks in part to the inclusion of some of the oldest Syrah on the planet with vines dating back to the 1800s. It’s also thanks in part to the dynamite team that sees this wine all the way through.
