Nicolas Potel died suddenly this past June at just 56 years old. This Bourgogne Chardonnay was one of his last finished wines.

If you followed Burgundy at all, you knew Nicolas. The son of Gérard Potel, who ran the legendary Domaine de la Pousse d’Or until his own sudden death in 1997, Nicolas spent his life championing old vines, organic farming, and the belief that great wine shouldn’t be exorbitantly expensive. He was a visionary who believed wines should be opened and shared, not hoarded or priced into the stratosphere.
