Kistler Vineyards Vine Hill Chardonnay 2015

Categories , ,

“Kistler Vineyards remains one of the absolute benchmark producers of great Sonoma Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, sitting right up there with the highest quality examples of these grapes from throughout the world. While the wines come from as wide a range of top terroirs as Sonoma can provide, interestingly nearly all of the Chardonnays are produced from a proprietary selection of Wente clones taken from a Larry Hyde block in the early 1980s.”

96 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Strutting seductive notions of fresh ginger, jasmine, marzipan and brioche over a core of lemon meringue pie, pear tart, apricot preserves and baked pineapples, the 2015 Chardonnay Vine Hill Vineyard is a knock-out beauty. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the mouth with opulent stone fruit and spice layers with a wonderfully creamy texture and just enough freshness, finishing very long with a compelling savory quality.

World class chardonnay from an absolute icon in American winemaking!

96 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

Vine Hill is the vineyard that surrounds the winery. It’s Steve Kistler’s 25-year old dry farmed Chardonnay grown in a deep, sandy subset of the Gold Ridge soil series that seemingly has no bottom. Here, the vines work overtime to get what they can the nutrient-poor sands to produce a wine of unparalleled energy and complexity. Steve’s 2015 Vine Hill is a noteworthy gem. The Wine Advocate raved, giving it a 96-point score and calling it, “a knock-out beauty”. It’s really hard to argue with that. It’s creamy, a little spicy and just flawlessly put together. It’s a treat!
