94+ Points, Jeb Dunnuck
“Displaying a bright, youthful yellow hue in the glass, the 2023 Chardonnay Willamette Valley was aged in a mix of two-thirds stainless and the rest French oak. It has a lovely nose of flinty wet stone, lemon oils, poached apple, delicate sweet spice, and brothy, salty earth. It has a lovely, juicy feel on the palate, with a refined and elegant, supple, silky texture, as well as a beautifully long finish. Offering real depth and complexity without being heavy, it’s going to drink well over the next 10 years. A very impressive Chardonnay from Ken, it’s showing a lot of promise.”
Ken Wright Chardonnay Willamette Valley 2023
94+ Points, Jeb Dunnuck
Ken Wright has seen over 125 scores over 90 points combined from Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast. He’s one of Oregon’s greatest all-time greats.
Now his 2023 Chardonnay release is straight up turning heads. You’re probably not going to find another 94+ point, under $30 American Chard this year and with good reason, but this one is more than deserving. The purity, depth of flavor, and concentration stand out. Beautiful notes of lemon, ginger, green apple and apricot burst out with a hint of honey supporting it. It’s a gorgeous, refined, and complex Chardonnay that comes from an exceptionally good vintage. This is our first foray into the 2023 vintage but I have amazing news for Oregon wine lovers, this is going to be a vintage to remember. Here’s your first shot.

Luckily for us, the twenty cases that were earmarked for a blue-chip NYC restaurant have become available (I wonder why). Their loss is your gain.
Ken Wright is a legend in Oregon and a true pioneer in every sense of the word. His contributions to Oregon could potentially only be matched by Dick Erath, making him one of the most influential winemakers ever to come out of the Pacific Northwest.
Wright was one of the early pioneers of Oregon winemaking, recognizing the potential of the Willamette Valley’s unique terroir. While most folks had set up shop in the Chelehalem Mountains and Dundee, Ken Wright discovered a whole new set of soils in Yamhill-Carlton. He championed the concept of single-vineyard wines, emphasizing the importance of terroir in shaping the character of wine and further cementing Oregon’s place on the international stage.
Amazingly, all these years later, Ken hasn’t slowed down a step. He’s still consistently delivering some of the very best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay bottlings in all of Oregon, which is why Robert Parker, Jr. declared “This has long been one of the reference points for Pinot Noir fanatics.”
