Foscarino as a modern-day muse. An inspiring wine that can lead to greater ideas. This profound wine opens with aromas of quince, roasted Fuji, preserved kumquats and an entire meadow full of flowers that encompasses all senses. Rich on the palate, yet stately the wine threads the needle as flavors of orange flower water, white peach, mint and honey flow into a sea of crushed shells and green almonds giving a salty, savory finish that languishes.
95 Points, James Suckling
This is very intense with electric acidity. Dried apples, lemons and minerals with a salty undertone. Full-bodied with phenolic tension and an extremely long finish. Hints of oyster. Needs two or three years to show its greatness, but fantastic already.
The now-third generation of winemakers continues to build on their family’s 50+ year incredible legacy. Recently, Antonio Galloni of Vinous referred to them as “one of Soave’s, actually Italy’s, most important producers” and talked about the “state of constant evolution and experimentation over the past few years” that has helped turn these gorgeous wines into perennial powerhouses.
Their method is simple but undeniable, and apparently hard enough to replicate that they continue to shine brighter than any of their neighbors. The white grapes are picked fully ripe, gently pressed and then left to settle before a temperature-controlled fermentation and spontaneous malolactic fermentation. This is why these wines are both beautifully balanced and aromatically expressive. Minimal filtering, minimal interference – pure expression.
When others’ follow this, they can make pretty wines. But at Inama – these white wines aren’t just pretty, they amount to some of the most highly-rated whites in the world. Their 2022 rendition is easily amongst Italy’s greatest white wines made at any price point. It’s simply magnificent.
