Joe Wagner sources his Elouan from multiple vineyards throughout the state of Oregon, especially in the south of the state. With warmer temperatures and an earlier, longer ripening season towards the Rogue Valley allows for Pinot Noir that is juicy and fruit-forward.
The 2017 is wonderfully ripe, with vibrant flavors of rich cranberry, sweet cinnamon and bright cherry with just a touch of earthiness. It’s packed with fruit and finishes with soft, refined tannins. It’s a great choice for a summer red, delicious by itself or pair with just about anything.

Xavier Vignon’s brand spanking new CDR 100% is a thing of beauty. It’s already got a blessing from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate who described this wine as, “Full-bodied, concentrated and supple”. This is a gorgeous and intricate blend that features all of the Southern Rhone appellations. This year, the blend was 40% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, 15% Syrah, 7% Cinsault, 7% Marselan, 6% Terret Noir. Nobody can do it like the mad scientist, Xavier Vignon.

San Giorgio Ugolforte is the sister winery of Poggio di Sotto. Their 2017 presents a dark core of red and black berry fruit layered with earth, leather, smoke, and herbs. It is difficult to find an Oregonian Pinot for less than $30 a bottle. This could easily sell for $45 a bottle. It is velvety with hints of vanilla. I bought a case to share with friends and family.
