Domaine Reverdy-Ducroux traces its roots back to 1550 and is now shining as bright as ever under 14th generation winemaker Laurent Ducroux. Laurent has transformed the historic estate to best capture the individual essence of each of their distinct 70 micro-plots and his work has paid off big time. The estate gained enormous popularity in 1970s French Michelin dining scene and became the go-to restaurant white in some of the top spots around the world.
This wine a special non-vintage bottling from Domaine Reverdy-Ducroux that features mainly fruit from the 2021 and 2021 vintages. It comes from a special vineyard along the Loire river with distinct Silex soils, that locals call “rocks”. It’s an energetic expression with clean citrus notes and an overwhelming freshness. It’s much more mineral-driven than any other wine from Reverdy-Ducroux lineup as it is the famous Silex soil that gives this one its chalky minerality.

Even though we’re ahead of the scores, I have no doubt that what I secured for us today will join the long list of high-scoring whites for Groth – this really has it all. Made in 100% neutral oak, the aromatics completely shine here as soon as you open the bottle. Fresh lemon, citrus peel and nectarine on the nose with bright acidity, impeccable balance and a lingering aftertaste that makes you want to come back to the glass.
Year in, year out Château Turcaud produces one of the best white wine values in the world. It’s long been found on Michelin-starred wine lists in Paris and we’ve had it at the restaurant since Day 1. If you’ve ever tried this stunning, classic Bordeaux of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle, then you know why. The new 2021 vintage is here, and it’s a classic vintage in Bordeaux for energetic whites. This is a beauty as always.
It’s no wonder this is a hot little ticket amongst some of NYC’s best restaurants; this is a killer wine at a great price. The 2022 Petit Chablis has an attractive nose of citrus rind, white flowers, and wet stone. In the palate, the wine is racy and mineral with just a touch of salinity. The hallmark of the great 2022s will be tension and length and Sébastien’s little wine has both in spades. The acidic/mineral cut will make this fantastic at the table and a great candidate for short term aging.
Gold Medal (Best in Show), 2023 Mundus Vini International Tasting
The area has also been isolated from the rest of Spain for generations, which has kept the wine prices far lower than wines of this quality would be anywhere else in the world. That’s why, despite having the Torres family name on the bottle and the consistent huge press (including the Gold Medal & Best in Show at the 2023 Mundus Vini International Wine Awards in Germany), these wines can still be scooped up for under $20/bottle. It’s like the Sancerre pricing of yesteryear.
