Domaine Hubert Brochard Sancerre Les Trois Coteau 2023

*Nicholas Wines Exclusive* – 91 Points, Wine Spectator

The 2023 vintage benefited from a warm, dry summer with perfectly timed September rains, allowing the grapes to reach ideal ripeness. The result is a beautifully balanced wine with an expressive nose of pineapple, passion fruit, and bright citrus, underscored by brilliant freshness and impeccable structure. It’s a fairly robust cuvée with a distinctive roundness, full body and delicate fruity notes – a perfect expression of these special soils and the Bollinger family’s commitment to excellence.

Shows balance between its fruit and energy, with good stuffing to the notes of gooseberry, smoke and sweet meadow blossoms. Everything is nicely reined in by zippy acidity and smoky, flinty minerals. Savory, with sneaky length. Drink now through 2029

Founded by Aimée and Hubert Brochard in 1900, this historic domaine has been committed for generations to showcasing the diverse terroirs of Sancerre.

The vineyards surround the winery in Chavignol – widely considered the grand cru village of Sancerre – and grow in the prized “caillotes” soil of small chalky stones. These steep slopes (20-25 degrees) on Chavignol’s three hillsides require meticulous handwork but reward with exceptional minerality and precision.

While the Bollinger name is synonymous with exceptional Champagne, they’ve recently expanded their French wine legacy into Sancerre with their strategic acquisition of Domaine Hubert Brochard in 2022.
