Janine and Teddy Crochet’s tiny domaine in the heart of Sancerre had just hit its stride in NYC. Near the entirety of their US allocations of Sancerre Blanc 2017 and 2018 were reserved for guests at the Union Square Hospitality Group, Gramercy Tavern, Union Square Café, Manhatta and The Modern.
That all came to a halt last year – and we were more than happy to help the Crochet family place their inimitable Sauvignon Blanc into deserving homes. The situation is better now but not by much. And we’ve worked out some very special pricing for the Nicholas Faithful today – for the price of a glass at Gramercy Tavern, you can pretty much have the whole bottle.
The price is unheard of for artisanally produced, estate bottled Sancerre. Super intense aromatics with crisp stone fruits, Asian pear and that signature Bue minerality streak. Vibrant fruit and acidity with tremendous balance and depth. It’s a Sancerre that is only going to get better over the next couple of years.

It is the quintessential summer-white, this electric white wine is best served cool with any kind of seafood. My favorite? Lobster rolls!
Sonoma Coast is well-known as a cool-climate region, perfect for growing Chardonnay. That’s why it’s such a big deal for Route Stock to transition over for the first time from Carnernos over to here. The newly released 2021 version has a delightful energy in its youth, with a pale straw color with lime hues. The aromas are of honeysuckle, orange blossom and creme brulee with layers of vanilla and a hint of toffee. The palate is lively yet soft with flavors of lemon cream pie and merange.
90+ Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
This one is electric, great minerality, great lemon lime and saltiness. It even has a little ageability. I’d drink this over the next few years. This is one of the absolute best expressions from the region (a Cru vineyard designate in 2011) and so perfect with anything out of the sea but in particular the raw bar. Crisp and clean stone fruit with some pear, and a lot of personality. This is a great new discovery wine to check out.
The Mâcon-Verzé from the iconic Domaine Leflaive is always world-class and one crazy good value. Drawn from nine special plots, and utilizing a combination of steel, cement and oak fermentation that leads to a wide array of flavor profiles. The new release is absolutely beaming with energy even in its youth. It boasts floral aromas, lemon-lime citrus notes and a minerality that shines throughout.
Gold Medal (Best in Show), 2023 Mundus Vini International Tasting
The area has also been isolated from the rest of Spain for generations, which has kept the wine prices far lower than wines of this quality would be anywhere else in the world. That’s why, despite having the Torres family name on the bottle and the consistent huge press (including the Gold Medal & Best in Show at the 2023 Mundus Vini International Wine Awards in Germany), these wines can still be scooped up for under $20/bottle. It’s like the Sancerre pricing of yesteryear.
