Di Majo Norante Falanghina 2023

90 Points, James Suckling

Molise is one of those hidden gems that serious wine lovers are just starting to discover. Even Italians don’t know it as well as they should. Di Majo Norante has been cultivating vines there since the 1800s, and today they’re farming over 85 hectares organically in the Ramitello zone, where consistent summer breezes and that unique mix of sandy, calcareous soils create perfect conditions for native varieties like Falanghina.

When I tasted this, I immediately understood why James Suckling awarded it 90 points, calling it “bright and juicy” with “lemon rind, grapefruit and chamomile aromas.” This is summer sipping in a bottle, Italian style – the kind of high-toned, fresh white that makes you want to grab a seat on the patio and forget about everything else.

Original price was: $18.00.Current price is: $14.00.

Di Majo Norante, often referred to simply as “De Majo,” is a highly respected winery from Molise, Italy, a region often overlooked but with a long history of winemaking. The estate has been cultivating vines since the 1800s.

The wine we have from Di Majo is the 2023 Falanghina from Molise, and here’s what makes this so special: it’s crafted by Riccardo Cotarella, hands down the best Falanghina winemaker in the world. Robert Parker Jr. called Cotarella “one of the most influential personalities in the world of wine in the last 20 years,” and this iconic consultant manages more than two dozen projects annually – including his new gig at Sting’s Il Palagio Estate in Tuscany.
