Clos du Vieux Bourg Morgon Cinq Terres 2020

Categories ,

Today’s Beaujolais comes from one of the region’s top producers in Clos du Vieux Borg. It’s a killer Morgon that comes from five different vineyards, all in the heart of the Beaujolais Crus. The five vineyards all impart different characteristics to the wine, everything from elegance to roundness to the minerality of the Clachet vineyard and the power it gains from the Terraines Rouges.

What makes it even more special is that Beaujolais rarely comes with big scores, let alone a huge score with an Editors’ Choice designate. But the 2020 ‘Cinq Terres’ bucks that trend in a big way to the tune of 93-points for a Beaujolais they deemed “worthy of its cru status.”

There’s a lot of character in these wines, but the most notable trait is just how well they’re made, with lots of bold flavors that still harmonize with one another beautifully. It’s so fresh and so clean–there’s just a lot to love in this bottling.

Original price was: $30.00.Current price is: $27.50.

93 Points (Editors’ Choice), Wine Enthusiast
This Morgon blended with fruit from five different vineyards is deliciously dark and brooding. Deep purple to ruby in color, it has a nose of black plum, apricot, raspberry, strawberry and black cherry. Concentration on the midpalate carries additional notes of dried violet blossom and hay. This Beaujolais is worthy of its cru status and has youthful, juicy tannin that would benefit from waiting until 2024 to drink.
