Bella Union Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2022 (1-Liter Bottle)

Nicholas Wines Exclusive: A One-Time 1-Liter Special

The vineyards along Bella Oaks Lane that run through the heart of Rutherford have been sought after for over a hundred years. Since the 1880s, these vineyards have been the heart of some of the most phenomenal Napa Cabernets ever made – the secret ingredient in Heitz’s Bella Oaks Cabernet and Beaulieu’s Georges de Latour Private Reserve.

This is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon that’s dominated by 94% of the grape. The remaining 6% is filled by Malbec, Cab Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot, which all play a pivotal roll in making this a well-rounded, ageworthy bottling. Tasting Panel gave this 2022 vintage 95 points, calling it “exquisitely aromatic and textural” with “a perfume of crushed violets and black cherry” and “concentrated flavors of blackberry liqueur, vanilla, and sandalwood” that “flow across chewy, velvet-lined tannins.”

95 Points, Tasting Panel
With small percentages of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot, this exquisitely aromatic and textural Cabernet begins with a perfume of crushed violets and black cherry. Concentrated flavors of blackberry liqueur, vanilla, and sandalwood flow across chewy, velvet- lined tannins.

The Bella Union Cabernet from Far Niente is a crazy good value. It comes in at half the price of its sibling Far Niente and over delivers as a special Saturday night type wine. Under the tutelage of rising star Brooke Bobyak Price, the wines have consistently garnered 95+ points, with this vintage being no different. This is one of the most affordable, most reliable Rutherford Cabernets you’re going to find.

The vineyards that run along Bella Oaks Lane (the road that cuts through the heart of Rutherford) towards the old Bella Union mine, have been sought after for well over a hundred years. Since their founding in the 1880s, these vineyards have been the heart of some of the most phenomenal Napa Cabernets ever made.

They were the secret ingredient in Heitz’s Bella Oaks Cabernet. The vineyards from the old Steckter family property – now Staglin – were the secret sauce in the Beaulieu’s Georges de Latour Private Reserve – not to mention the phenomenal wines of Staglin.
