Barkan Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Superiore 2011

Categories ,

Barkan has not so quietly built a reputation as one of the top 3 wineries in all of Israel and though their wines are popular in part because they are Kosher, I have seen them wow a lot of expert tasters who tried it blindly and couldn’t believe quite how good these wines are. Wine Spectator wrote of this one: “Broad and supple, this shows raspberry, dried cherry and plum fruit, underpinned by light mocha, charred herb and sweet spice accents.”

Original price was: $80.00.Current price is: $45.00.

Barkan was founded back in 1990 when it was very unpopular to grow grapes in the Middle East. Started by a group of college students, it started as just a garage project but quickly gained international acclaim and eventually moved into a state-of-the-art 50,000 square meter winemaking facility.

Today, they are viewed as one of the very best wineries in Israel and the middle east, sourcing from the very best regions in Israel; the Golan Heights, Upper Gaillee and along the Lebanese border.
