Babich Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough Black Label 2022

One of the true great producers in New Zealand right now, Babich Vineyards is on a particular winning streak at the moment in Marlborough.

The winery has come a very long way in its over 100 year existence. Back in 1912 when Josip Babich started this venture, he was considered out of his mind crazy. But he was very patient and very determined and through immense research, trial and error and relentless efforts, he began seeing the true fruits of his labor nearly 10 years after he first began.

With with more than 100 years of experience behind them, Babich has become a true leader in NZ. Their 2022 Sauv Blanc releases are insane. The white label, the more popular of the two was treated to big scores, but pails in comparison to the special ‘restaurant only’ Black Label that saw its way to #21 on Wine Spectator 2023 Top 100 Wines of the Year list. What a feat for this great winery!

92 Points (Best Buy), Wine Enthusiast
Waxy lime, grapefruit, grass and crisp green bell pepper open this balanced, food friendly Sauvignon. It even feels a little floral. On the palate, a citrusy zing lends brightness to the waxy textural richness. There’s a long, limey finish. Easy to sip both on its own or with a meal.
