2021 Vina Robles Limited Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Vina Robles has a considerable advantage over most of their Paso Robles neighbors in that they have some very special estate vineyards to pull fruit from.

The 2021 Limited Selection Estate Series was selected from three different estate vineyards, Creston Valley, Huerhuero and Bear Valley. Huerhuero Vineyard, in the hilly terrain between the El Pomar and Geneseo Districts, benefits from the moderating Pacific breezes and limiting calcareous subsoils.

It’s a deep, brooding medium to full-bodied wine with lots of cocentrated dark fruit, silky smooth tannins and some great energy. This beauty can be laid down or enjoyed over the next 5-10 years, easily.

Original price was: $45.00.Current price is: $25.00.

93 Points, James Suckling
Creamy, dark-fruited character with notes of walnuts, vanilla and dark licorice. Medium- to full-bodied with very fine, polished tannins. Sleek and lengthy, with a chalky texture at the end. Even and long. Drink or hold.

93 Points, Wine Enthusiast
This solidly satisfying style of Paso Robles Cab will please many palates. Aromas of cocoa, black tea, coffee bean and elderberry decorate the nose. The palate is tense in structure but forgiving enough to present easily enjoyable flavors of elderberry jam, warm oak and dark herb.

Do not be confused!!! This is not their regular Estate Cabernet Sauvignon that you see on the internet. This is the ‘Limited Reserve’ release, which only has the very best juice from all the Estate vineyards and only gets released in special vintages. In the 2021 vintage, which saw their regular Estate Cabernet receive double 93 point reviews, this one is at least 3 or 4 points better than that wine, though I doubt they’ll bother to even get it submitted for scoring. There’s not much of it to go around, but for me it’s of the same pedigree as the Austin Hope.
