Drappier ‘Signature’ Blanc de Blancs Brut Champagne NV

92 Points, Wine Spectator

I had to bring this beauty from the magician, Michel Drappier. His Champagne bottlings have been some of my favorites for years. The way he’s able to take calculated risks that always seem to work out is this estates special sauce. They even have Pinot Blanc planted on site which they add to this delicious Blanc de Blancs bottling to give it a little extra complexity and depth. It’s an absolute beauty that wine Enthusiast called a “delicious, opulent Blanc de Blancs that emphasizes rich fruit as much as minerality.”

Original price was: $84.99.Current price is: $64.99.

Beautifully aromatic, with abundant ground spice, graphite and toasted coconut notes, this mouthwatering Champagne features a satiny mousse and a rich profile of dried papaya, glazed nectarine, grated ginger and chopped almond, all set on an elegant frame.

Champagne Drappier is a prestigious, family-owned Champagne house located in Urville, in the southern Aube (Côte des Bar) region of France. The estate is run by the wonderful Michel Drappier, the super-friendly man who has helped turned his family estate into one of the better ones in the entire region.

The most special and original feature of the Drappier House, is that they harvest all allowed grapes in Champagne (more than just the Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay that most do). Their secret weapon in the Blanc de Blancs is actually a splash of Pinot Blanc, called “Blanc Vrai” in Champagne, which gives this baby a slight addition in complexity and roundness.
