Carl Roy East Side Cuvee Napa Valley 2024

A lion’s share of the wine comes from just off the St. Helena Highway, next to some blue-chip Napa names like Revana and Morlet and just down the road from Quintessa. The juice that goes into this bottle is declassified from the same source as a bottle that gets released for $60/bottle, giving you an incredible discount at today’s price.

The 2024 shows gorgeous, full-bodied St. Helena fruit with a core of dark cassis and just the right touch of new oak. Long on the palate and slow to unwind in the glass, the East Side Cuvee is absolutely packed with blue and black fruits. These wines are stinkin’ inviting and approachable in their youth but still have the broad shoulders to age five to ten years, no problem.

Original price was: $60.00.Current price is: $30.00.

My wife and I first discovered the Carl Roy “East Side Cuvee” at my old stomping grounds, Restaurant Jean-Georges at One Central Park West. That was years and years ago, but even then, the cost of the bottle went for a whole lot more than it does today on Nicholas Wines! It was worth every penny, though, and I’ve never seen it disappoint a customer. It’s been a while, but we’re finally back with a new vintage, and I have the best price in the country for this outstanding Napa Valley Cabernet.

This is my first offering of Carl Roy East Side Cuvee since the fantastic 2021 vintage. The team at Carl Roy doesn’t make a Cab every year—they’re that selective. They backed off making a 2022 and were about to pull the trigger on the 2023 vintage when they realized that the healthy 2024 crop somehow offered them even more possibilities to source great Napa Valley fruit.
