95 Points, James Suckling (Certified Organic)

Their vineyards sit at a staggering 2500 feet altitude on volcanic lava terraces, creating dramatic day/night temperature swings in soil rich with potassium, lava sand, and tiny pumice stones.

James Suckling called it “Extremely perfumed and fresh with sliced-apple, lemon, lemongrass and lime aromas” on the nose with a “medium body with bright acidity and a tangy finish. Really mineral. Vibrant.” Made from 100% Carricante planted at high altitude, this definitely capures the essence of Etna’s volcanic terroir imparting all kinds of flavors and smells that are completely unique. 95 Points, James Suckling
Extremely perfumed and fresh with sliced-apple, lemon, lemongrass and lime aromas and flavors that follow through to a medium body with bright acidity and a tangy finish. Really mineral. Vibrant. From carricante planted at 750 meters of altitude. Drink or hold.

This gem comes from Nicosia, one of the O.G.s of the region that was founded back in the late 1800’s on the slopes of Mt. Etna and has been handed down from father to son for almost six generations now. They’re one of the original wineries to settle on Etna and one of the few still shepherding their own grapes from vine to bottle.

Their vineyards sit at a staggering 2400-2800 feet altitude atop volcanic lava terraces, creating extreme day/night temperature swings in soil rich with potassium, lava sand, and tiny pumice stones. This creates wines with beautiful natural acidity and plenty of pent-up energy like the volcanic from which they come.
