Roberto Ferraris Barbera d’Asti 2018
Roberto Ferraris has been crafting works of art in the form of Barbera from the sandy, limestone-laden hills of Asti for the last 20 years. He’s got knack for making aromatically dynamic, elegant red wines, with vibrant, pure fruit that makes Roberto one of the very best producers of wines we can drink every day.
His base Barbera is off the charts in 2018. Old vines always give just an incredible aromatic array of violets, eucalyptus and baking spices. Those old vines also pack a concentrated core of black fruit that goes forever in limestone-affected finish. First, this is a home run of a pizza wine. But it is food-friendly enough to work with much more, anything braised or off the grill. Last thing, it is flat-out delicious just by itself, Ferraris is the quintessential Tuesday nighter, a wine for every time!
