Banshee Pinot Noir Sonoma County 2021

Categories ,

I’m always surprised by the Banshee wines. It feels to me like a winery that’s been around forever, but in reality they’ve only been around less than 15 years with a tasting room that has only been open for a decade. Probably I think that because of how popular their wines have become – and for good reason.

Banshee’s wines offer buyers some of the best values in California out of the beloved Sonoma County. They don’t make strictly value wines – some of their single vineyard stuff can get up into the $70-80/bottle range – but for values like today’s offer – they’re really hard to top.

How many Sonoma County Pinot Noirs for under $25/bottle do you think get three separate 91-point or higher reviews from major publications?? I assure you, you can count them all on one hand.

Original price was: $30.00.Current price is: $19.99.

93 Points (Editors’ Choice), Wine Enthusiast
This elegant, energized wine combines bright raspberry and red-cherry aromas with flinty, mineral accents and lip-smacking red and black cherry flavors. It shows great balance and will be fun to watch as it matures further. Best through 2023.

91 Points, Wine Spectator
“Brisk and bright, with a mix of cherry and pomegranate notes dotted with a savory hint. Reveals a light flash of red tea on the finish. Drink now through 2023.”

91 Points, Tasting Panel
“Earth and spiced cedar confirm the wine’s savory character. Exotic floral tones of prickly pear and hibiscus work well with Chinese five-spice and black raspberry. High-toned acidity keeps a freshness throughout.”

93 Points (Editors’ Choice), Wine Enthusiast – 91 Points, Wine Spectator – 91 Points, Tasting Panel

The Tasting Panel in their 91-point review called out that ‘high toned acidity’ that “keeps a freshness throughout”. Wine Spectator included it in their ‘10 Terrific California Pinot Noirs’ report noting “a mix of cherry and pomegranate notes dotted with a savory hint” in their own 91-point review. But Wine Enthusiast ratched it up a few notches with their 93-point Editors’ Choice review, calling the wine “elegant and energized” and highlighting the “great balance” that will make it “fun to watch as it matures further”. Boom.
