Aix is one of the few brands in the world where a producer is just as well known as the region – in this case, both are incredibly special. Here, the vineyards are sprawled high up in the hills over 400 meters above sea level, one of the highest in all of Provence. They have outrageously minerally soil there, 300 days of sunshine a year on average and an extraordinarily high amount of natural morning dew, making their fruit even more stinking delicious than it already was.
Here, the unrelenting dedication into making some of the world’s most premium Rose using the traditional Provencal grapes of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah have put not just the winery firmly in the world’s spotlight, but brought the whole sub-region of Provence along for the ride.
This year, like every year, the Aix Coteaux d’Aix comes highly recommended. Whether it outshined and outscored a famous Bandol Rose for the top spot on the Wall Street Journal list or the 90-point score it just got from James Suckling (what will be the first of many this year if history continues).
There’s a lot to love if you’re a Rose fan– a super fresh and lifted nose of peach, tangerine, cherry and hints of flowers, with a high-toned pristine palate of ripe peach, strawberry and orange blossom with some beautiful mineral notes and a long and precise finish. It really is the belle of the ball and the quintessential springtime treat.

This is a Nicholas Faithful favorite. Even though it’s technically a non-vintage it was last disgorged in the 2020 vintage. La Cravantine, is a sparkling rosé of 100% Cabernet Franc, bone-dry, super fresh and with bubbles so tiny and fine, it puts most “real” Champagne to shame. Appealing strawberry and mineral scents are encased in a firm structure with a dry and spicy quality in the palate. This wine is incredibly versatile – perfect with just about any fish, fried food, or do like I do and enjoy it on it’s own.
This is a sensational single-vineyard Merlot made from incredibly tiny clusters, full of some of the most elegant, intensely structured fruit from high atop Sonoma Mountain. Beautiful weight and balance with aromas of blueberries, black currants, sage and a hint of cocoa. It’s got a full, plush mouthfeel, pristine and vibrant fruit and a wonderful smooth finish. Thanks to Chad’s big bet on himself, he was able to make a knockout Sonoma Mountain beauty, without the need for any middleman, helping us to enjoy one of his best creations at an outstanding price.
We’re nearing the end of what was a flawlessly crafted, high energy coastal Chardonnay release from one of California’s hottest spots. It’s still every bit as bright and refreshing as you could want and it hits with clean, pristine green apple fruits, pears and citrus notes with a hint of that limestone-influenced minerality. It’s a fantastic wine for all seasons, the perfect pair with mixed seafood, summer tomatoes, corn and freshly caught fish.
The just released 2023 Crochet Sancerre Rosé is drawn from the high elevations of Janine and Teddy Crochet’s Pinot Noir vines in the village of Bué. The conditions are perfect for crisp, delicious Sancerre Rosé. Salmon-pink in color with a pretty nose featuring aromas of roses, orange peel and Bing cherry notes. This is as well-balanced as always with terrific fruit flavors of citrus and red berries with racy a high-toned finish.
