Here are a few of Nicholas’ favorite bubbles picks packaged together, wrapped up and ready to go under the tree. If there’s one thing for sure it’s everyone loves some great sparkling wines. The best part is these three each are so uniquely different and very highly rated. One is a Champagne method Sparkling Rose of Cabernet Franc that the Wine Advocate called, “intense, round and textural”, one is a super crisp highly rated Prosecco that Vinous called one of the very best in the cateogry, and the last is a perennial favorite Cremant that is a constant on Michelin restaurant wine lists as the ringer you think is Champagne, but really is the amazing Barmes family and their Cremant d’Aslace at a far more attractive price point. That one is rated higher than it’s ever been before. All of these are absolutely roaring to go.

Bele Casel Prosecco Superiore: 91 Points, Vinous
The NV Extra Dry Prosecco Superiore enchants with its sweetly scented blend of sweet flowers, confectioners sugar and tropical melon. It engulfs the palate with silken bubbles, creating an undeniable elegance while contrasting ripe orchard fruits with hints of candied citrus. A Chalky staining of minerality and pretty inner florals resonate, as this finishes with amazing length and freshness. This is an excellent entry into the Extra Dry category.
Gasnier La Cravantine NV: 93 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate
The NV Vin Mousseux Brut Methode Traditionelle La Cravantine is a pale rosé colored Cabernet Franc sparkling wine with a very delicate mousse. Fermented on the bottle with its own residual sugar from the first alcohol fermentation and after at least one year sur lattes, the wine opens with an intense yet fine and elegant brioche and ripe apple bouquet. On the palate, this is an intense, round and textural, highly delicate fizz with a super elegant and refined mousse and a long, intense and aromatic, sustainably structured finish. A fabulous wine for aperitifs, breakfasts and desserts.
Barmes Boucher Cremant d’Alsace 2019: 94 Points, James Suckling
What a striking and enticingly floral nose this Cremant has! Then comes the super-silky palate that you fall into, as you would into a velvet sofa. The really long, creamy yet precise finish is the last element of this deliciously innovative style. A cuvee of pinot gris, auxerrois and chardonnay, disgorged on September 27 after about 2.5 years maturating in the bottle.

91 Points, Vinous – 91 Points, Wine & Spirits
“The 2019 Brut from Alta Langa, is remarkably pretty, with a delicate blend of peaches and young mango complicated by hints of incense and spice. This displays round, soothing textures and juicy acidity with a core of tart orchard fruits that add a lovely tension toward the close. It finishes with medium length, leaving a twang of sour citrus and a steely minerality that adds a tactile touch. The 2019 is beautifully crafted and displays incredible balance. Well done. This is a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay”
Stephan Steinmetz is a star in the Mosel wine region. His old vines are rooted in Kimmeridgian limestone, the exact same vein of rock that winds its way from Sancerre through Chablis and Champagne to its final out-cropping here in the Obermosel. His Elbling is glorious — both completely unlike anything I’ve ever had and also eerily familiar. The color is almost clear, some might call it silver. A stunning nose of green apples and lemon peel gives way to fresh pear and bright citrus fruits on the palate. It’s a stunningly focused wine with a healthy dose of minerality and acid zip, not unlike great Sancerre/Chablis and bone dry.
90 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Xavier Vignon’s brand spanking new CDR 100% is a thing of beauty. It’s already got a blessing from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate who described this wine as, “Full-bodied, concentrated and supple”. This is a gorgeous and intricate blend that features all of the Southern Rhone appellations. This year, the blend was 40% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, 15% Syrah, 7% Cinsault, 7% Marselan, 6% Terret Noir. Nobody can do it like the mad scientist, Xavier Vignon.
91 Points, James Suckling
The Bisol “Jeio” Prosecco NV is a delicious sparkler that comes from the Veneto region of northeast Italy. A brilliant straw yellow color, the first sip is an intense and fresh nose of citrus fruits and saline sensations. If you love fruit forward sparklers… this one is for you.
