Saint Amant is planted at 500 meters in elevation, in the humble village of Beaumes de Venise. The high elevation and mineral soil provide ideal conditions for aromatic and elegant Viognier. This white wine is a treasure, a real rarity in that it is made from Viognier, an intensely aromatic grape variety best known in the tiny hamlet of Condrieu. Condrieu is frightfully expensive, but not this CDR Blanc today. This amazing find offers an exotic bouquet, anise-tinged fruit and fresh acidity, that make this wine the perfect deck-side aperitif or any fish’s best friend.
90-92 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Xavier Vignon’s highest ever rated CDR 100% from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate was described as, “Rich, velvety and long”. All three adjectives accurately describe what Xavier Vignon believes might be his greatest vintage of winemaking yet. His 100% Cotes du Rhone offers the best value in his impressive arsenal, with big, juicy flavors flooding out of this one and making it the ideal wine to enjoy with most anything at the table or by itself so it can truly shine.
I’ve compared winemaker Xavier Vignon to a magician before in the past, and I’ll do so again. He continues to come up with new and exciting wines that are unlike anything he’s done before. His latest trick, is a Rose cut off clay and gravelly soils located near Chateauneuf du Pape, towards Lirac. It’s got a great pale salmon color and a bouquet of flowers, raspberries, strawberries with a hint of spice. A perfect compliment to summer cuisine with a vibrancy and length to it that people will love.
