Poggio Al Sole is consistently one of the most prestigious, well-regarded wineries in Chianti and all of Tuscany. Their wines, which are now both certified organic and vegan offer incredibly sophisticated notes and are known for being wildly aromatic.
The 2019 Primavera is a Rosato that has far more going on than meets the eye. Yes, it offers a beautiful pink hue, but this is more of a food wine than most any Rose out there. It offers intense aromas coming from the beautiful Sangiovese grown on the estate. It’s savory but has good fruit, weight and balance to it. Perfect with salmon, chicken or any appetizer you can throw at it. It’s delicious right now but will also be great up until 2022.

90 Points, Vinous
The bouquet is more savory than sweet, leading off with notes of dried peaches with crushed stone minerals, then giving way to a twang of peppery botanicals. Silky, soft textures flood the senses with cool-toned orchard fruits and sweet, subtle spices, as the 2019 Poggio al Sole Primavera flows effortlessly across the senses. The finish leans more toward exotic florals and cleans up very nicely, as residual acids slowly taper off on this perfectly balanced Sangiovese Rosato. Very Nice.

One of the best places to look for great Tuesday nighters are the sandy, limestone-laden hills of Asti. And within Asti, there is no white wine calling card that holds a candle to Moscato. Here it is king. Gianni Doglia naturally farms a tiny estate in the picturesque hamlet of Castagnole Lanze. His Moscato is the product of old vines, vinfied without oak to preserve its incredible fruit. This is serious, high-quality and hand-harvested Moscat, that oozes with sweet tropical fruits and a hint of minerality that stays on your tongue with each sip. This is also the perfect wine for anyone searching for a low alcohol option as well.

There’s a consistency to Pierre Sparr wines that consumers just know they can count on throughout the entire portfolio. The wines deliver aromatics, elegance, clean fruit and are packed with vibrancy. They also happen to be extremely food-friendly, especially in the past few vintages where yields were down but quality rose to an all-time high. This is a bone-dry beauty with layers of citrus fruits, framed by wet stone and mineral character that adds dimension.
Elena Walch’s newly released 2022 Pinot Bianco continues to be the best example of Pinot Blanc anywhere. She’s the undisputed queen. There’s so much energy in this new release. Super light in color, with a busy nose that boasts ripe aromas of citrus, granny smith apple with a hint of freshly mowed grass. Made entirely in stainless steel, the wine is expressive, fresh and finishes as clean and tight as can be. Definitely will continue the run of 90+ scores once this one is reviewed.
93 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“The 2021 Barbera d’Alba Bricco dei Merli shows a beautifully fruity, almost juicy personality that paints an authentic portrait of this grape. The Congo winemaking team has worked out its approach to elegant wines. This Barbera does not show any of the excesses, like sourness or too much acidity, that can sometimes characterize Barbera when made in less capable hands.” -Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
