His 2021 Pinot Grigio Collio DOC is flat-out delicious. It’s got a little spice, it’s got depth yet somehow it’s still light and fresh. I’m not so sure this one even needs food. It just dances out of the glass on a hot, sunny day. I’d enjoy it slightly chilled in a tall, white wine glass, and just sit back and enjoy.

The wine hits the palate with a thunderous cascade of ripe, rich, concentrated fruit. It is full-bodied, multidimensional and layered. The 2005 Château Barde-Haut Saint-Emilion is the one you want. They totally outdid themselves in this vintage and I’d say that without the 95 and 94-point reviews. It’s just a gorgeous wine at an incredible price that over delivers every step of the way. Think black fruits, hints of spice, and an elegant structure that’s singing right now. It’s no wonder this wine is sought after by collectors.

“The 2019 Cantemerle has a fruit-driven bouquet with opulent blackberry and blueberry fruit, certainly one of the most floral in the flight with pressed violets developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannins, fleshy and rounded, though I am looking for more tension and precision on the finish. This is a really fabulous Cantemerle that surely represents outstanding value. No excuse not to have this in your cellar.”

The terroir here is exceptional – gravel terroir with some limestone and clay deposits, making it an ideal place for healthy, expressive vines. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that gets picked off here are so fresh and vibrant, they basically demand to be fermented in cement so as not to let oak interfere with expressions this pure.
