Schramsberg has been considered one of the best in America at making sparkling wine, dating back to the late 1960s when Jack and Jamie Davies founded Schramsberg. When the Blanc de Blancs was first made in 1965, there were only 22 bonded wineries in Napa and less than 100 acres of California vineyards planted to Chard and Pinot. Needless to say, they’ve been creating special sparklers for years and years.
Today, Schramsberg is one of the coolest places you could possibly visit in Napa or anywhere. They are home to Napa’s first caves (a historic landmark) that were first dug in the 1880s, and they are home to the first hillside vineyards in Napa. They also make some of the very best Sparklers anywhere in the world. Part of it is that they ferment 25% of their own juice in oak barrels, part of it is that secret sauce that comes from doing this so well for so long.
Their recently released 2020 BdB will surely continue the trend of highly acclaimed Sparklers coming from this iconic estate. It’s an energetic rendition that leads with powerful notes of green apple, with some citrus, apple pie and brioche notes. It’s incredibly fresh and crisp with refreshing little bubbles that steal the show. A whole lot to like!

Luxurious and rich, yet pinpoint in focus, with expressive apple and strawberry flavors highlighted by brioche, ginger and spices. Drink now.
The newly released Fiancetto Howell Mt. Cabernet is a dream – a gorgeous, elegant dark-fruited Cabernet Sauvignon that is it picks up time in the glass, unfurls its full signature of cedar laced cassis nose and mid palate of chocolate-covered cherries and savory spices. Only four palates of this (224 cases) were made off a gorgeous, sprawling high elevation spot 1500 feet above sea level. It’s full and plush and finishes fresh and oh so long. The price is crazy for Howell Mountain Cabernet but that’s what Ry Richards and Fiancetto is all about.
On the heels of a fabulous 2018 vintage, it seemed like the folks at Harlan Estate couldn’t go any higher. But with Harlan’s 2019 Estate earning a perfect 100-point score from Parker and the Bond Vecina nearly matching it with a 99, it’s clear that the wines being made here are a cut above everyone else. Lucky for us, The Mascot is a blend of Harlan, Bond and Promontory barrels. The Cabernet Sauvignon here is grown from some of the most spectacular vineyards in the entire Napa Valley. In the 2019 vintage, this is a dream come true for Will Harlan and company.

“Needing plenty of air to show at its best, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is a sensational, gorgeous Napa Valley Cabernet that delivers the goods like only this region can. Pure Cabernet magic on the nose, with deep blackcurrants, smoked tobacco, lead pencil, and a kiss of spring flowers as well as a beautiful Pessac-Leognan-like scorched earth character, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, silky tannins, no hard edges, and a great, great finish. It’s one of those wines that builds incrementally on the palate and it’s only after the second or third sip that you realize how special this wine is. It also offers that rare mix of power and elegance that’s the hallmark of all great wines. It needs a couple of hours in the decanter if drinking any time soon. Hats off to Paul Hobbs for an incredible Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.“

“The 2000 Dom Perignon is a gorgeous, seductive wine that floats on the palate with remarkable grace. Toasty aromas meld into freshly cut flowers, apricots and pears, with sweet notes of mint and licorice that linger on the long finish. This perfumed, inviting Dom Perignon is elegance personified, and in this vintage the wine fully merits its lofty reputation.”
