This year I’ve cooked up something totally special for the Bourbon Buyers Club members. I even held some whiskey back to make it all possible. I have our first ever Santa’s Whiskey Trio, with three of my own Nicholas Single Barrel Whiskeys at a fantastic price. Unfortunately there is a cap on these, as my barrel from Eddie Russell came with a hilariously low quantity, maybe the smallest single barrel ever produced! Every year ‘the angels share’ knocks the bottle count down due to natural evaporation during the distilling process, but this year my barrel from Russell’s was no joke only 42 bottles! “At the helm for Blue Run Spirits’ whiskeys are whiskey director Shaylyn Gammon and liquid advisor Jim Rutledge, who demonstrate their mastery with this blend of three Kentucky bourbons aged 6, 8, and 9 years. Oatmeal raisin cookies and tropical aromas dominate the nose, though dried pineapple is soon overtaken by cinnamon spice, vanilla bean, and grape jelly. The palate is rich with flavors of chocolate and espresso, then playful notes of raspberry syrup. Flourless chocolate cake, more fruit, and a good deal of heat make for a tantalizing finish.”
True whiskey and Knob Creek enthusiasts are going to go nuts for this one. Knob Creek Rye is as outstanding as it is rare but today we’re lucky enough to bring to you, my own single barrel of it. This is a big gold expression of Rye that holds nothing back. On the nose, there are hints of dill, rye and essence of charred oak. On the palate, you are hit over the head with baking spice, honey and freshly baked bread. The finish is certainly a warm “Kentucky Hug” that goes on forever.

Sonoma Coast faired better than virtually every other California AVA in a vintage that saw extreme heat spikes. The coast and its high-altitude made for some gorgeous, aromatic and concentrated wines. Both of these are delicious right out of the gate. The Chardonnay is tightly wound, with bright lemon and granny smith apple set upon a creamy structure. The Pinot is equally tight with bright ripe strawberry, bing cherry, and a bit of spice.
Each mixed six-pack includes 3 btls each of the following:

-2022 Flowers Chardonnay Sonoma Coast
I was given fourteen samples to taste through, and found that the 5th sample was the winner. This one is not for the faint of heart. It was a tiny barrel of just 40 six-packs, but the quality here was out of the world. It checks in at 110 Proof (55% alc.) and has harmonious sweet and savory notes that dual throughout this super long and memorable finish. It’s worth selling less bottles to bring you one this good – you guys are going to absolutely love it.
