Jon Bon Jovi is known in his family as a big Rosé fan. Always has been, especially at the family home in the Hamptons. So when his son talked to him about starting his own winery in France focusing on Pink wine, he didn’t immediately shut the idea down.
Instead, he did what any good father would do when his son has a dream that he wants to pursue: He did everything he could to make it come true.
The elder Bongiovi flew his son out to France and had him tour wineries, shaking hands and meeting winemakers searching for the right fit. For the Bongiovis, it was about finding the best partner possible. Someone who would pour their own blood, sweat, and tears into the project in addition to being an innovative, talented winemaker. The more people they met and the more folks they asked, it became clear that Gerard Bertrand was the obvious choice, as long as he was willing. Fortunately, he said yes.
Gerard Bertrand is a legend in the South of France. Born and raised in the Languedoc, you can find no greater champion of wine in the region. The big press, the accolades, the waitlist for folks looking to hire him as a consultant…for all those without 11 platinum records.
Five years in, the Hampton Water Rose project is a smashing success. It already saw a Top 100 list from Wine Spectator in its first ever vintage! It’s even made more top 100s in the five vintages since.

90 Points, Decanter
A joint-project between Languedoc wine maestro, Gerard Bertrand and Jon Bon Jovi and his son, Jesse, this rosé is inspired by those of Provence but has its own identity. Ripe, fresh cherry and strawberry fruit aromas are joined by a herbal touch, while in the mouth it’s impressively sapid and mineral. Flavours of strawberry and herbs lead the way, with some peppery spice emerging on the fresh finish.
Gold Medal (Best in Show), 2023 Mundus Vini International Tasting
The area has also been isolated from the rest of Spain for generations, which has kept the wine prices far lower than wines of this quality would be anywhere else in the world. That’s why, despite having the Torres family name on the bottle and the consistent huge press (including the Gold Medal & Best in Show at the 2023 Mundus Vini International Wine Awards in Germany), these wines can still be scooped up for under $20/bottle. It’s like the Sancerre pricing of yesteryear.
92 Points, Decanter
The big thing here is the quality. It’s noticeably a few steps above your typical Provencal Rose. It’s a racy blend of mainly Grenache and Cinsault, sourced from the picturesque 25-hectare estate in the countryside of Saint-Tropez. It’s elegant and juicy with good intensity and inviting aromas of red berries, orange peel, strawberry, and spiced ginger. The soft, red currant finish adds to the wine’s overall charm, making it a delightful and approachable choice for any occasion. I can’t believe I’m saying all this about a pink wine!
95 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate – 94 Points,Wine Spectator
Robert Parker, Jr. gave it 95 points and called it “one of the finest Warre’s I’ve ever tasted” and “a profound example of Warre vintage port.” Additionally, “Tasters should take note of the wealth of peppery, licorice-scented and flavored raspberry and blackcurrant fruit. Look for it to be ready to drink in 10-12 years, and keep for 30+.”
91 Points, Wine Enthusiast
Always the one with the most personality of the bunch, this is what Wine Enthusiast had to say about the 2021 release: “This extremely ripe and bold style of Pinot Noir will please those seeking such lushness. Dark in the glass, it begins with black cherry, toasty caramel and cola milk shake aromas.” The cool, coastal days and abundance of sunshine lines up perfectly for a wine that has a good natural acidic backbone, with bold fruit-forward flavors. In an easy 2021 vintage, Joe Wagner had a field day with this single-vineyard beauty.
