Four years later, the program has grown to include single AVAs like Dundee Hills and Chehalem Mountains and a wonderful new Rose of Pinot Noir as well. But her Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is still her calling card, consistently delivering exceptional value to her growing fanbase.
Every year since inception, Anne Sery’s Trousse Chemise wines have wowed folks from Coast to Coast (like Daniel Boulud). Her newly released 2021 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is still easily one of the best in Oregon dollar for dollar and in a fantastic vintage, it seems to even kick it up a few notches. Wildly aromatic and bursting with an intense, berried up fruitiness– when people compare Oregon as the closest thing to Burgundy in America, this is what they are talking about. Juicy and vibrant, with even more expressive aromatics as a result of the cool September that allowed for maximum hangtime.

It’s so fine aromatically; a product of the cool, high elevation mountain sources. On the palate, it’s primary, fresh and fruity but the finish is long and stony, balancing that terrific fruit perfectly.

Damien has crafted a delicious Médoc, full of character with dense black currant and cherry fruit, cedar, tobacco and wonderful complexity. It’s silky complexion is what pushes it over the edge (and, of course, the price!) It doesn’t hurt that it comes from a 95-point Left Bank vintage that the Wine Advocate declared, “outstanding.”
At J Vineyards, Nicole is nothing short of a magician, making 30 different skus or more each vintage between her Pinots, Chardonnays, and Sparkling wines. For the vineyard’s flagship Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, up to 100 individual small lots are combined to make this great wine. Somehow, the blend is effortless–a quintessential RRV Pinot that has those soaring aromatics, bright red fruits, clove, and nutmeg spice with perfect balance.
The newly released Fiancetto Howell Mt. Cabernet is a dream – a gorgeous, elegant dark-fruited Cabernet Sauvignon that is it picks up time in the glass, unfurls its full signature of cedar laced cassis nose and mid palate of chocolate-covered cherries and savory spices. Only four palates of this (224 cases) were made off a gorgeous, sprawling high elevation spot 1500 feet above sea level. It’s full and plush and finishes fresh and oh so long. The price is crazy for Howell Mountain Cabernet but that’s what Ry Richards and Fiancetto is all about.
