Marjorie Gallet and her husband Stéphane moved to the Roussillon in 2000. It was there Marjorie worked a few months with Gérard Gauby. What she learned from him went beyond science: he taught her a winemaking philosophy.
Stéphane took over the technical management of a famous estate in Maury while Marjorie went looking for vines for their estate project. There were a few parcels in Roussillon that reminded Marjorie a lot of Côte-Rôtie. One in particular was planted on a vein of quartz: a white-soil hill surrounded by black schists. The lieu-dit was called Roc Blanc (French for « white rock ») due to this picturesque, natural vein of quartz.
“Le Roc des Anges” stemmed from this duality.
The two farm their vineyard biodynamically, which encourages deep root penetration, and the cultivation of a high leaf canopy allows for great photosynthesis and good shade for the grapes. Every grape at Roc des Anges is picked by hand, at the coolest parts of the day, and are kept cool all the way into the press. From there, the effect of the mineral soil takes over, providing that great finesse and freshness in every wine. The wines are incredible fresh, with great fruit, vibrant minerality and a beautiful bouquet of aromas. Every year, we are excited to see what Marjorie and Stéphane have in store for us.

From just west of Sancerre, Vincent’s vines are tended organically in flint-laden, calcareous soil which lends a great brightness to the wine. The wine is crisp and aromatic Sauvignon, and is a superb choice for a “cocktail” wine, as an aperitif or to accompany just about anything from sea.
One of the best places to look for great Tuesday nighters are the sandy, limestone-laden hills of Asti. And within Asti, there is no white wine calling card that holds a candle to Moscato. Here it is king. Gianni Doglia naturally farms a tiny estate in the picturesque hamlet of Castagnole Lanze. His Moscato is the product of old vines, vinfied without oak to preserve its incredible fruit. This is serious, high-quality and hand-harvested Moscat, that oozes with sweet tropical fruits and a hint of minerality that stays on your tongue with each sip. This is also the perfect wine for anyone searching for a low alcohol option as well.
The newly released Riesling Feinherb 2021 is a lively, juicy wine with an elegant bouquet of minerals, wet stone and ripe fruit. On the palate, the wine’s slight off-dry component is beautifully balanced by the steely acidity typical of the Mosel. Because this is freshly released, the fruit is vibrant and succulent and it comes in somewhere between off-dry and semi-sweet. It’s a great example of Riesling, especially at the price.
We’re nearing the end of what was a flawlessly crafted, high energy coastal Chardonnay release from one of California’s hottest spots. It’s still every bit as bright and refreshing as you could want and it hits with clean, pristine green apple fruits, pears and citrus notes with a hint of that limestone-influenced minerality. It’s a fantastic wine for all seasons, the perfect pair with mixed seafood, summer tomatoes, corn and freshly caught fish.

I absolutely love this wine. One of my favorites for everyday drinking. I’ve also met the winemaker at a tasting and she’s lovely.
