Weingut Freiherren Von Heddesdorff Riesling Feinherb 2021

The newly released Riesling Feinherb 2021 is a lively, juicy wine with an elegant bouquet of minerals, wet stone and ripe fruit. On the palate, the wine’s slight off-dry component is beautifully balanced by the steely acidity typical of the Mosel. Because this is freshly released, the fruit is vibrant and succulent and it comes in somewhere between off-dry and semi-sweet. It’s a great example of Riesling, especially at the price.

Original price was: $28.00.Current price is: $22.95.

If you’re a fan of German Riesling, you’ll want a few bottles of this in your wine fridge. A tremendous example of what Mosel Riesling is at its best.

Andreas von Canal is the grandson of the last Freiherr von Heddesdorff. His family has grown Riesling in Winningen since 1454, on steep, terraced vineyards near the confluence of the Mosel and the Rhine, just upriver from Koblenz.

The spectacular, steep terraced sites of Freiherren von Heddesdorff seem to rise vertically from the river Mosel. The old vines are rooted in rocky soil over a deep bed of slate. This tiny estate produces aromatic wines with weight, traditionally fermented in large oak barrels.

This is a beautiful Riesling with a lot of energy. A new release, it’s an off-dry Riesling that unloads elegant flavors of grilled pineapple, stone fruit, apple pie and fresh ginger with some citrus fruit and Asian pear notes that linger. It’s a little dry, a little creamy with plenty of elegance, a great example of what Mosel Riesling can be.
