This year for Thanksgiving we have prepared the perfect case, so your wine problems are officially resolved. Four very different wines that bring something special to the table for Turkey Day, and they match up well with just about anything you can choose to pair with. Then, we discounted the case 28% from its SRP. That’s a slamming deal. Every case has 3 bottles of powerful, dark-fruited Right Bank Bordeaux, a cool-climate super slick Sonoma Coast Pinot, Chad’s latest and greatest Cabernet project which you can only find in this case and insanely delicious dry, tiny bubbles courtesy of the Prosecco staple, Bele Casel. I hope you can enjoy these with your loved ones this year.
The 2021 Gobbler Case includes 3 bottles of each:
Schug L’Etage Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2019 (Nicholas Exclusive)
Chad Cabernet Sauvignon McKinley Springs 2020 (Gobbler Exclusive)
Château Martinat Côtes de Bourg 2018 (Highly Rated Bdx From a Great Vtg.)
Bele Casel Prosecco Brut NV (A Thanksgiving Classic– Delicious Tiny Bubbles)
Schug Estate L’Etage Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2019
Founded in 1980, Schug Carneros Estate Winery is the showcase and life-long dream of one of California’s most celebrated winemakers. Walter Schug’s reputation blossomed during his tenure as Founding Winemaker for Joseph Phelps Vineyards in the 1970s, where he made California’s first proprietary Bordeaux-Style blend (Insignia) and legendary vineyard designated Cabernets (Backus and Eisele Vineyards). This is the same blend as the wine that earned three 90+ point scores in the 2019 vintage, but this is the restaurant-only exclusive. I pulled a few strings to get this delicious under-$30 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir that will shine at the Thanksgiving table this year.
Chad Cabernet Sauvignon McKinley Springs 2020
Chad’s latest Cabernet project is about a savvy a play as I’ve seen from him and that’s saying a lot. He found a few choice plots in the Horse Heaven Hills that really deliver juicy, powerful, full-bodied Cabernets with great acidic backbones that make it an exceptional choice with a lot of different foods. But then you factor in his winemaking expertise and you really his newest project is a about another near half off stunner that is the epitome of why everyone loves the Chad wines.
Chateau Martinat Cotes du Bourg 2018
Chateau Martinat delivers a gorgeous, and extremely dynamic Right Bank wine, that is a seamless blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s a big wine that mirrors Napa in terms of opulence and style and offers juicy red fruit and black fruits that are jammy and delicious. It has a little baking spice on the finish that helps give this delicious wine another gear. It’s smooth and velvety and drinking really well right now. This is a must-have come Thanksgiving time.
Bele Casel Prosecco Brut N.V.
Bele Casel has been making wines that consistently over-deliver and get hit with big press whether it’s the Gambero Rosso in Italy or American press. The wines are delightful, dry but creamy Proseccos with delicious and vibrant tiny bubbles that melt on your tongue and dance on your palate. This is as fresh and enjoyable as always. And it goes really well with food.

90-92 Pts, Parker’s Wine Advocate – 91 Pts (Editors’ Choice), Wine Enthusiast – 91 Pts, Decanter
The wines get consistent high praise but 2018 is truly something special. 90-92 from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. 91 points and an Editor’s Choice designation from Wine Enthusiast. 91 more from Decanter who provides “There is so much to enjoy in the smaller appellations this year. Drinking Window 2022 – 2031” and another 90 point score from James Suckling. This is a home run value – especially for the price.
The 2021 Napa Valley East side Cuvee is an instant classic. From the first whiff to the moment it hits the lips, its clear that this is a fabulously concentrated, serious wine: black in color, and featuring aromas of cassis, cedar and chocolate-tinged purple fruit. The mouthfeel is plush and voluptuous with a firm, solid finish that speaks to its potential for considerable aging.
The newly released Fiancetto Howell Mt. Cabernet is a dream – a gorgeous, elegant dark-fruited Cabernet Sauvignon that is it picks up time in the glass, unfurls its full signature of cedar laced cassis nose and mid palate of chocolate-covered cherries and savory spices. Only four palates of this (224 cases) were made off a gorgeous, sprawling high elevation spot 1500 feet above sea level. It’s full and plush and finishes fresh and oh so long. The price is crazy for Howell Mountain Cabernet but that’s what Ry Richards and Fiancetto is all about.
95 Points, James Suckling – 94 Points, Wine Spectator – 93 Points, Wine Enthusiast
The new release is here from outstanding winemaking team of Michel Rolland, Charles Thomas, Andy Erickson and David Jelenik. This one always represents one of the best quality-to-price ratios in all of Napa Cab and in the stellar 2021 vintage, this really stands out as one of the best the Valley has to offer. It’s a racy mix of Coombsville fruit from Atlas Peak that absolutely roars out of the bottle. Always one of Napa’s great bargains and a must have even as the price starts to sneak up here a little bit.
