We have just 5 cases of this special collector’s wine – only our best Burgundy buyers will get a shot at this one.
The wine is sourced from a few tiny estate parcels, that together total just a quarter of a hectare in size, right in the heart of the limestone rich Chambolle-Musigny. The fact that they have to pull these tiny holdings together is why this gets the Village appellation and a modest price tag compared to the neighbors.
And perhaps more than many regions, vintage actually does play a factor in Burgundy, and vintages that end in 9 are typically quite good. That’s not quite the case with the 2019s. They’re not just good, they are generationally great wines, and some have gone even further.
The Financial Times reported in their conversation with Bernard Hervet (Faiveley/Bouchard) that his assessment was that it could “perhaps rival 1865, the greatest vintage of all”. That’s obviously a contest that will take us 20 years and some basic time travel to figure out. Let’s just say this vintage is way above average and leave it at that.

20% whole bunch vinification. Impressively rich purple, the nose is luscious yet not unbalanced. This luxurious style continues across the palate, yet fresh at the finish, a plentiful mouthful, which has maintained its balance with correct acidity and tannins.

This red is dense, chunky and ripe, packed with plum, blackberry, boysenberry and rose flavors, accented by spice and earth. Rigid finish, with the tannins taking over for now as this winds down, yet the lasting impression is sweet, ripe fruit. Best from 2026.

“The 2020 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is truly sensational. It begins with striking aromas of fresh blackberries, blueberries and dark plums that are laced with fresh spring florals, mocha, sweet exotic spices, graphite and gravel nuances all taking shape. The palate is full-bodied and displays a remarkable combination of power and elegance throughout. This is beautifully structured and extremely expressive, as it possesses outstanding depth and concentration all they way through the long, finessed finish. Year after year, the Columbia Valley Cabernet is one of the most impressive wines, and there is no exception here, as it combines all the wonderful qualities of the 2020 vintage from Quilceda Creek into one expression. This is fantastic already and readers will be in for a real treat, as this simply marvelous wine will continue to deliver the goods for years to come.”

The oft 100-point winemaker, Jayson Woodbridge had this to say when tasting his 2021 ‘Stargazing’ Sonoma Pinot: “The wine is vibrant and complex with subtle dark fruits and berries, grandmother’s cherry pie, minerals, and a slight touch of rain-soaked earth, intertwined with a balance and very pleasing easy-going luxury. Should have been priced higher but what the hell.” I have no doubt this clerical error will be addressed in the vintages moving forward. But for now, this is a cult Pinot for under $100/bottle.

Domaine Jaume Vinsobres Altitude 420 is an old-vine Grenache-Syrah blend from vineyards planted in Les Collines at some of the highest points in the Rhône. The Jaumes have farmed these dizzying elevations at their estate in Vinsobres for 100+ years. The 2020 is one of his best yet, pristine and fresh, a bowl full of berried-up fruit yet with the tension and length that belies its humble price. Incredible bang for the buck, tailor-made for anyone’s house red, and a slam dunk for any kind of meat on the bone.
At J Vineyards, Nicole is nothing short of a magician, making 30 different skus or more each vintage between her Pinots, Chardonnays, and Sparkling wines. For the vineyard’s flagship Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, up to 100 individual small lots are combined to make this great wine. Somehow, the blend is effortless–a quintessential RRV Pinot that has those soaring aromatics, bright red fruits, clove, and nutmeg spice with perfect balance.
