From the first time I visited with Romain Reverdy in Verdigny, I’ve been blown away by this young star who is undoubtedly one of the most promising young vignerons of the appellation. His 2022’s have just come in and they’re completely lights out. It’s incredible how he shows off the rich fruit intensity and power of 2022 with bursting stone fruits that come in waves and show the complexity of the vintage as well.
The vineyards there are mostly rooted in “Caillotes” (small limestone pebbles and rocks with compacted chalky marl) and “Terres Blanches” (Kimmeridgian marl) and with a very small amount of silex (flint).
The whites are precise with a certain softness, but with very tight structure that, stylistically—of recent—are reminiscent of the great Sancerre of the 80’s. But the Rose has been a really special surprise. It’s ageworthy, it’s complex and it’s food friendly. And it really shines through with its pure red berry and citrus fruit

This is rich, opulent, stunning Pinot Noir with a higher pH and a deeper, richer complexion than their Willamette neighbors. It’s a dead ringer for Russian River Valley. Deep red ruby color to the rim with high-toned red berry fruit soaring right out of the glass. It’s incredibly fresh with tremendous depth backed by fine tannins, bright acidity and amazing purity of fruit on the palate. It’s a finessed and elegant Pinot with just intensity and length. At this price, it may be the best Pinot in the country.
From the famous family behind Peyrassol, comes a new Cotes du Provence smash hit. The wine is pale pink in color with notes of small wild berries on the nose complemented by a hint of juniper. This spiciness lends weight to the liveliness on the palate reminiscent of exotic citrus fruits, creating a crisp, harmonious and refreshing ensemble. Spice lingers on the palate for a full and round finish.
93 Points, Decanter
“The Jonvive wines come from their Moon Dust Estate Vineyard in the Sebastopol Hills, a cool site even by Russian River Valley standards. Lushly aromatic with notes of chicory, sumac and loads of wild berries. The palate is fresh but well-structured. Red rasperberries, fresh mint, and savory smoke follow the flavors of cloves. Delcious, but youthful with the structure to continue to develop over the next 8 to 10 years.”
Hirsch Vineyards has never been making better wine than they are right now. They’re completely locked in and that’s why they just received a perfect 100-point score for one of their single-vineyard new releases. Another gem in the portfolio, the 2022 Bohan-Dillon Pinot is a brilliant wine, a high-toned, fresh and elegant Pinot that perfectly represents those precariously perched vineyards that line the famed Bohan-Dillon Road of the Sonoma Coast. There are tons of quaffable red fruits here with a silky mouthfeel and a lot of energy. With the weather cooling down a bit, It is a perfect choice to drink in a glass by itself or with just about anything in the kitchen. It’s a special wine.
