When Vinous released their annual Rose report this year, the entire first page of the highest scored wines seemed like a dedication to Peyrassol. It is abundantly clear who is running the show in Provence these days.
This new estate cuvée was created on the 20th anniversary of the acquisition of the Commanderie de Peyrassol by Philippe Austruy. The very soul of the estate, La Bastide reflects the colours of Peyrassol’s terroir. Its unique bottle and free-form label, created by the designer Pierre Yovanovitch, combine authenticity and modernity in perfect harmony with this wine which reveals the purity of fruit without any distraction.
The winery has consciously maintained organic practices in full respect of the surrounding environment, aiming for certification in the coming years. No synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or fungicides are used in the vineyards. The age of the vines, the rocky terrain, and the hot, dry climate all do their part to severely restrict yields.
This special bottling is a fantastic Provence representation. Soft in color, reminiscent of rose petals, it has an inviting nose of fresh flowers intertwined with delicate and tasty fruit. The nose supports the palate with fresh, typical fruit notes characteristic of the grape varieties. The wine’s lingering velvety profile takes over the whole palate before moving to a delicate, thirst-quenching finish.

Light orange-pink. Mineral accented red berry and citrus fruit aromas are complemented by subtle floral and botanical herbal accents. Juicy and animated on the palate, offering fresh cherry, raspberry and blood orange flavors that deepen with air and take on a spicy nuance. The mineral and floral notes repeat on the lingering finish, which echoes the citrus note.

“The flagship from this great estate is the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Boisrenard, which is based on 80% Grenache and small doses of 17 other varieties. This deeply hued beauty offers a stunning bouquet of blackberries, scorched earth, licorice, ground pepper, and sappy garrigue. I always find a Burgundian-like texture on this wine, and the 2020 is no exception – this is one to put into a blind tasting of Grand Cru Red Burgundies and shock your friends. Medium to full-bodied, ultra-pure, with grippy, sappy tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish, it’s pure class all the way. It’s going to need at least 4-6 years of bottle age, but this is a wine you don’t want to miss, and one of the finest wines I’ve tasted from this estate.” -Jeb Dunnuck

Domaine Jaume Vinsobres Altitude 420 is an old-vine Grenache-Syrah blend from vineyards planted in Les Collines at some of the highest points in the Rhône. The Jaumes have farmed these dizzying elevations at their estate in Vinsobres for 100+ years. The 2020 is one of his best yet, pristine and fresh, a bowl full of berried-up fruit yet with the tension and length that belies its humble price. Incredible bang for the buck, tailor-made for anyone’s house red, and a slam dunk for any kind of meat on the bone.
The Bernard Reverdy Sancerre Rose 2022 is gorgeous. A beautiful pale pink to the brim, this baby is fresh and super aromatic with a complex nose of citrus, wild strawberries and white flowers. With air, higher tones emerge, with a great mingling of ripe fruit, and stony minerality. Medium-bodied, fresh and focused on the palate, with concise limestone-drive acidity, this is an elegant, lively, and energetic Sancerre Rose that mirrors the warm vintage but also the old vines rooting deep in stony soils. This is so much better than your run-of-the mill Rose – it’s an ageworthy, food-friendly Rose

96 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate – 95 Points, Wine Spectator
We are one of the very few folks who have Wine Spectator’s #3 Wine of the Year. This is definitely not one to miss. The 2016 vintage showcases this prized vineyard in all its glory; notes of wild black fruit, thyme, mint, eucalyptus, and bay are lifted and enjoyed with the polished tannin and mouthwatering freshness of this wine. Regarded as one of the best vintages in the last few decades, the 2016 Martha’s Vineyard has been aged to perfection for immediate enjoyment at release and will continue to reward for the next 20+ years.
