The vines from which the 2019 “Les Galets de la Berthaude” draws its grapes are quite old – the average being 60 years old – with many well over one hundred years old. This year’s 2019 “Les Galets de la Berthaude” is made in the style the Nicholas Wines buyers love best; quite simply 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 100% delicious. This is a racy, structured and elegant CdP with the bones to age very nicely for the next decade and a half.
92 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
In the historic 2016 vintage, even Xavier will tell you there wasn’t a whole lot he could do but get out of the way and let the wine speak for itself. As he told Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, “2016 was just like a dream. The best autumn I’ve ever seen.” The vintage has received a 99-point score, and its easy to understand why. All the CdPs I’ve tasted from 2016 are great. But with Xavier Vignon, the master always delivers a cut above the rest. This is a winner.
