I have good news and bad news about the Whistle Pig 15-year American Rye. The good news is that this is one of the highest scored Ryes ever made having earned a massive 97-point score from Wine Enthusiast. But as I’m sure you could’ve guessed, the bad news is that I have only six bottles to sell. Don’t miss out on a great addition to any liquor cabinet, and an even better bottle for the private collection.
One of WhistlePig’s oldest whiskeys, the Estate Oak Rye is one of the absolute top dogs for Rye fans. It takes its name from our Vermont Estate Oak, where it finishes its 15-year life. It’s harvested sustainably by the nearly 600-acre farm and the wood has more rings, bringing even more flavor to the barrel than the regular American Oak barrels. With a custom char to the barrels, this is the perfect combination of Rye spice, smoky profile and vanilla and Sherry notes that make this a seamless blend and one of the highest quality examples made anywhere.

A complex and subtle scent of honey, vanilla, and faint clover notes. The flavors reflect caramel, burnt orange and a whisper of smoke. The nose is rich and enticing. This is a big, mouth-coating rye that finishes long and creamy, but never loses the kick of the rye itself.

Gold Medal (Best in Show), 2023 Mundus Vini International Tasting
The area has also been isolated from the rest of Spain for generations, which has kept the wine prices far lower than wines of this quality would be anywhere else in the world. That’s why, despite having the Torres family name on the bottle and the consistent huge press (including the Gold Medal & Best in Show at the 2023 Mundus Vini International Wine Awards in Germany), these wines can still be scooped up for under $20/bottle. It’s like the Sancerre pricing of yesteryear.
Back in the day, Widow Jane used to be a staple at Nicholas Wines. But as its popular has gone crazy, it’s been tougher and tougher to get my hands on any. This is a hyper small batch bourbon that was aged for a minimum of thirteen years, non-chill filtered and proofed with Widow Jane’s signature limestone mineral water from the Rosendale Mines in New York. It’s a doozy of a bottle at 93 Proof and has notes of vanilla, nutmeg, graham cracker and sweet tobacco.
With seemingly infinite access to some of the absolute very best vineyards in the most choice AVAs in the valley, the Wagner’s set out to make Quilt– a Cabernet blend from a patchwork of the top sites in Napa (Oakville, St Helena, Atlas Peak, Coombsville, Calistoga, and Howell Mountain.) The brand new 2021 edition is a beauty – deeply concentrated, rich and a truly show stopping Cabernet. It’s a dark, hedonistic blend that combines elegance with power and pairs the two together effortlessly.
#3 Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2021
96 Points, Parker’s Wine Advocate – 95 Points, Wine Spectator
We are one of the very few folks who have Wine Spectator’s #3 Wine of the Year. This is definitely not one to miss. The 2016 vintage showcases this prized vineyard in all its glory; notes of wild black fruit, thyme, mint, eucalyptus, and bay are lifted and enjoyed with the polished tannin and mouthwatering freshness of this wine. Regarded as one of the best vintages in the last few decades, the 2016 Martha’s Vineyard has been aged to perfection for immediate enjoyment at release and will continue to reward for the next 20+ years.
