After a little waiting, we were just allocated 8 more cases of this BIG RED classic from the Caymus family. The first time I tasted the wine a few months ago, I was blown away. It’s classic Caymus– big, juicy and fruit forward and perfect dinner company for grilled meat. With some of the best Malbec grapes from the highest appellations of the Andes Mountains brought back to Napa chilled and finished in the same style as the Special Selection Cabernet (that runs for $175/btl), this wine is of the “no-brainer” variety.
Looking at reviews online, I wasn’t surprised to see that people raved about this one and considered it to be the best iteration of the wine to date. I also saw that most people had the wine for anywhere between $45 and $55. We were asked not to go lower than that price, but I figured, as long as I kept it a secret, what’s the big deal? I like having the lowest price in the country, and I like passing the savings along to you. $33/btl. Caymus fans rejoice: we’ve got another classic BIG RED for you to feast on. Just for you.

This is a sensational single-vineyard Merlot made from incredibly tiny clusters, full of some of the most elegant, intensely structured fruit from high atop Sonoma Mountain. Beautiful weight and balance with aromas of blueberries, black currants, sage and a hint of cocoa. It’s got a full, plush mouthfeel, pristine and vibrant fruit and a wonderful smooth finish. Thanks to Chad’s big bet on himself, he was able to make a knockout Sonoma Mountain beauty, without the need for any middleman, helping us to enjoy one of his best creations at an outstanding price.
WS #4 2019 Wine of the Year, 96 Points, Wine Spectator
2016 was an incredibly special year in Napa Valley. It was essentially the 5th straight vintage of near perfect-conditions and a lot of the big boys produced some of their biggest, most elegant Cabernets to date. Groth’s was still one of the standouts in any group, a deeply concentrated, weighty Cab with sappy, juicy fruit and a carefully intertwined tannic structure. Absolutely gorgeous.
The newly released Fiancetto Howell Mt. Cabernet is a dream – a gorgeous, elegant dark-fruited Cabernet Sauvignon that is it picks up time in the glass, unfurls its full signature of cedar laced cassis nose and mid palate of chocolate-covered cherries and savory spices. Only four palates of this (224 cases) were made off a gorgeous, sprawling high elevation spot 1500 feet above sea level. It’s full and plush and finishes fresh and oh so long. The price is crazy for Howell Mountain Cabernet but that’s what Ry Richards and Fiancetto is all about.

“This supple red shows a core of cherry and plum fruit allied to olive, juniper and tobacco notes. Delivers well-integrated tannins and acidic structure, lingering nicely on the finish.”
