Chateau Hosanna is a star on the Right Bank and has been for a few decades now. It’s a jewel-like vineyard of just 4.5 hectares conveniently located in the heart of Pomerol’s central plateau, adjacent to some of the most famous crus of the appellation: Château Lafleur to the north; Château Petrus to the east; Château La Fleur-Pétrus to the west; Vieux Château Certan to the south.
The vineyard of Château Hosanna has a long and rich history. Prior to its purchase by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1999, Hosanna was known as Château Certan Giraud, considered one of the premier crus of Pomerol since the 1950’s. It was originally part of the de May family estate, who settled on Pomerol’s plateau in the 16th century and planted one of the appellation’s first vineyards there.
These days, the wines being drawn off this tremendous property are some of the very best in all of Bordeaux. Now their neighbors say they’re next to Hosanna (well, maybe not Petrus).
In the 2020 vintage, their excellence was on full display as they built one of the more impressive, powerful and age-worthy bottlings of the entire vintage. Jeb Dunnuck gave it a 98, calling it “A big, explosive beast of a wine”. James Suckling loved it as well, but took it a step further in with a 99-100 point review in which he gushes, “Layered and very structured. Goes deep and down. One for the cellar. Superb. Maybe the best ever.”

So aromatic and fresh with black olives, black truffles, gravel and dried flowers. Milk chocolate. Ovaltine. Full-bodied with fantastic old-vine tannins. Layered and very structured. Goes deep and down. One for the cellar. Superb. Maybe the best ever. 80% merlot and the rest cabernet franc. Needs ten years here.

A big, explosive beast of a wine, the 2020 Château Hosanna comes from a small 11-acre vineyard of gravelly, clay soils and it’s 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Decadent red and black fruits, smoked tobacco, loamy earth, chocolate, and some meaty, iron-like nuances all emerge on the nose, and this round, full-bodied, expansive Pomerol has a great mid-palate, ripe tannins, and a blockbuster of a finish.
It’s always nice to be in good standing with one of the most beloved wine brands in America! These won’t last long! This is an opulent, powerful dark-fruited Cabernet with tightly woven tannins, that is just raring and ready to go. Textbook, full-bodied, revved up and ready to go, this new Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet is the definition of a crowd pleaser.
In the 2020 vintage in Gevrey-Chambertin, yields were super low and temperatures were hotter than most Burgundian winemakers are accustomed. Many picked too late when the sugars were high and the fruit really ripe, but that was not the play. Still, Ann remained as cool in those hot temps as she did so many years ago in Napa, concentrating more on acid levels than sugars and picking at just the right time. This wine is absolutely singing – it’s an age-worthy beauty that should be even better in 4-7 years.
Anne Sery describes her Trousse Chemise Cabernets as an ode to the Left Bank and her winemaking roots. It’s a beautiful and fresh Cabernet with aromas that leap from the glass with of black raspberry, violets, and creme de liquor notes. The mouth gives generous amounts of juicy black fruits at the core with hints of baking spice and a smooth, savory finish. This is a terrific partner for just about anything from hard cheese, to poultry, summer salads, you name it!
