Reuling Vineyard lies just off Highway 116 between Graton and Forestville. Developed in 2000 by Mark Aubert and Peter Michael Winery, the site has become one of the premier Pinot noir and Chardonnay properties in California.
It includes 12.2 acres of Pinot noir planted to three unique clones–Calera and two distinct “suitcase” clones from the Vosne-Romanée region of Burgundy–and 2.2 acres of Chardonnay grown from cuttings from the Côte de Beaune.
The 2014 vintage was the third year in the row of nearly perfect harvest conditions. As such, all three Pinot clones showed exceptionally in the vintage and were blended all together as they were the year before in 2013. This was built beautifully and just starting to hit its stride. As Wine Enthusiast properly suggests, “this will hit its stride 2022-2029.” I can confirm this is fantastic.

94 Points, Wine Enthusiast
This is a layered and complex estate-driven wine. Its firm, sizable tannin foundation promises longevity and enviable structure, while allowing for a plush, lush exuberance of cherry clafoutis, cardamom and salted caramel. Enjoy best 2022 through 2029.“

It’s always nice to be in good standing with one of the most beloved wine brands in America! These won’t last long! This is an opulent, powerful dark-fruited Cabernet with tightly woven tannins, that is just raring and ready to go. Textbook, full-bodied, revved up and ready to go, this new Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet is the definition of a crowd pleaser.

Damien has crafted a delicious Médoc, full of character with dense black currant and cherry fruit, cedar, tobacco and wonderful complexity. It’s silky complexion is what pushes it over the edge (and, of course, the price!) It doesn’t hurt that it comes from a 95-point Left Bank vintage that the Wine Advocate declared, “outstanding.”
In the 2020 vintage in Gevrey-Chambertin, yields were super low and temperatures were hotter than most Burgundian winemakers are accustomed. Many picked too late when the sugars were high and the fruit really ripe, but that was not the play. Still, Ann remained as cool in those hot temps as she did so many years ago in Napa, concentrating more on acid levels than sugars and picking at just the right time. This wine is absolutely singing – it’s an age-worthy beauty that should be even better in 4-7 years.

The oft 100-point winemaker, Jayson Woodbridge had this to say when tasting his 2021 ‘Stargazing’ Sonoma Pinot: “The wine is vibrant and complex with subtle dark fruits and berries, grandmother’s cherry pie, minerals, and a slight touch of rain-soaked earth, intertwined with a balance and very pleasing easy-going luxury. Should have been priced higher but what the hell.” I have no doubt this clerical error will be addressed in the vintages moving forward. But for now, this is a cult Pinot for under $100/bottle.
