“One of the hallowed sites in the Carneros region, the ‘Hyde Vineyard’ is a site used by some of the great wineries in California including Ramey, DuMOL and many more. The vineyard is a historic site first planted in 1979. Hyde Estate wines are very young, with their first vintage in 2009. Finally in 2017 their winery and tasting room was opened, located in Napa. Today the ‘Hyde Vineyard’ totals 200 acres and works with over 30 wineries in the valley. Larry Hyde still manages the vineyards with the help of his son Christopher” -Owen Bargreen
2018 marked the first vineyard that Joe Nielsen joined the team as winemaker for Ram’s Gate, the super highly regarded Sonoma winery. He came with over 20 years experience between Merryvale and Donelan Family Wines in Santa Rosa Needless to say, his first vintage was a smashing success. It saw 10 wines from the winery score 92 points or higher including the 95 points that this beauty earned.
This gem comes off of Larry Hyde’s Vineyard, one of the best places, if not the very best in all of America to grow Chardonnay. The wines here are normally all $80-$120/bottles, including the ones made by some of the best Chardonnay winemakers in the world. That’s what makes this opportunity so special. You get a slice of Hyde Vineyard greatness in an excellent vintage with a big score to boot… all for under $50. Good luck finding that again with ‘Hyde Vineyard’ on the bottle!

The 2018 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard marks the beginning of winemaker Joe Nielsen’s tenure at the winery. Pouring a medium yellow with a light golden hue, it’s most reserved of the flight aromatically at the moment, with yellow chamomile flowers, ripe peach, beeswax, and white flowers. Full-bodied, it retains excellent tension and focus on the palate, with apricot, orange zest, and a savory finish with a bit of spice. I suspect this will come around and open with time. Drink 2024-2030.
This one is so fruit friendly and inviting and also the perfect treat for some Italian food or fresh fish. It leads with beautiful notes of stone fruit, lemon, lime, and some acacia flowers. It’s delicate, but still full on the mouth, with good structure, freshness, and intensity.
For years now, I’ve been absolutely delighted by the White Burgundies at Domaine Corsin. There’s really good reason for that. The Corsin’s holdings in Pouilly-Fuissé include many of the best situated sites in the appellation. This wine comes from a selection of older vines grown in these limestone soils. The current vintage is simply showing fantastic at the moment. The 2020 Corsin Domain’s Pouilly-Fuissé ‘Vieilles Vignes’ displays a bright golden hue with a hint of green. Its subtle bouquet with a woody-vanilla note enhances the slightly sharp, sophisticated fullness on the palate mingled with a generous underlying impression of toasted bread.
It’s an electric white Burgundy, with a limestone-laced aromatic profile of green apple, pear and hazelnut. Refined and high-toned, the pure, delicious fruit that is a hallmark of this terrific vintage, finishes long and fresh, with a mile-long mineral streak.
This is a super elegant Meursault from the family-run estate located in the village of Monthelie, between Volnay and Meursault in the heart of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. It leads with nutty aromas of brioche, fresh butter and delicate citrus and is extremely well structured, long and stylish with great purity of fruit.
