A collection of all three batches of the Old Forester 150th Anniversary Bourbon is as rare as it comes in the Bourbon world. All three separate batches of the newly unveiled Old Forester 150th Anniversary Bourbon, made at batch proof and without filtration, each focused on highlighting a different corner of Old Forester’s complex flavor profile.
In total, 150 barrels were chosen by Master Distiller Chris Morris, and then separated and blended by Master Taster Jackie Zykan to create the three different, high-octane batches. All three are at different proofs, 125.6, 126.8 and 126.4. All three are out of this world. Everybody is allowed their own opinion, but to me, each of these bottles is superior to the last few editions of the notorious Birthday Bourbon. They’re killer. This is just about the coolest Whiskey set out there. Just one 3-pack to sell!

Back in the day, Widow Jane used to be a staple at Nicholas Wines. But as its popular has gone crazy, it’s been tougher and tougher to get my hands on any. This is a hyper small batch bourbon that was aged for a minimum of thirteen years, non-chill filtered and proofed with Widow Jane’s signature limestone mineral water from the Rosendale Mines in New York. It’s a doozy of a bottle at 93 Proof and has notes of vanilla, nutmeg, graham cracker and sweet tobacco.
The juice here is so pure and elegant, it tastes much more like a $80/bottle of Tequila than one going for half the price, but that’s why I love these single barrel deals so much. The value is insane. This Reposado spent just under 12 months in used bourbon barrels. Golden brown with fresh agave, oak & vanilla. Remarkably smooth finish. This is one of those oddball tequila’s that is good enough to just sip on the rocks but cheap enough to use to make one hell of a margarita.
This is the first release of its kind and was just announced last week. I snagged six bottles as soon as I could. It’s a U.S. only release, and it remains to be seen if there will be others. The Redbreast Kentucky Oak Edition is triple distilled in copper pot stills and matured in American Bourbon barrels and Spanish Oloroso Sherry butts. Then it’s finished for a minimum of 4 months in hand selected, air-dried American Oak from the Taylor family farm in Kentucky.
This champagne is so good, it’s often a staple on the wine lists of Michelin two and three star restaurants. It offers elegant aromatics, pristine fruit and the crisp, mineral finish that screams for food. We loved it so much, we asked Jacques Diebolt to bottle a special cuveé for the restaurant– and he happily agreed, but unfortunately it sold out like hot cakes. No matter, here is old faithful. Just as delicious and memorable as I remember it.
