Grattamacca has been a trailblazer in Bolgheri as one of first wineries established in the region and the first winery in many regards. While their Cabernet and Merlot is especially renowned in Tuscany, their inclusion of Sangiovese in their Super Tuscans was unprecedented and flipped the region on its head.
The Grattamacco vineyards are located at an about 100 meters above sea level, in a wonderfully protected position over one of Bolgheri’s only two hills. It’s the nice part of time. Along with Grattamacco, their neighbors with triple digit price tag wines make the name Bolgheri internationally renowned.
The 2018 Grattamacca Bolgheri Rosso is absolutely phenomenal – outclassing and nearly outpointing some of its more famous (and way more expensive) neighbors. This one’s a powerhouse with a youthful charm you can enjoy now but it also has the structure to age for a very long time.
The 96-point score from James Suckling is our little secret. As soon as the importer realizes what he’s got, I’m sure he’ll have a dozen more calls to make. This is the bargain of the year in Tuscany. I can now say it confidently.

It’s no surprise the Wine Advocate has called the Ventoux a “screaming bargain.” Carved off the left bank of the Rhone River, the 2020 Delas Ventoux is a gorgeous medium-bodied wine with wonderful crushed red fruits, a silky mouthfeel, tremendous structure and that signature Rhone spice on the finish. I haven’t had this wine available for a few vintages, but I figure it’s the perfect springtime Red to bring back in the fold!

“The 2020 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is truly sensational. It begins with striking aromas of fresh blackberries, blueberries and dark plums that are laced with fresh spring florals, mocha, sweet exotic spices, graphite and gravel nuances all taking shape. The palate is full-bodied and displays a remarkable combination of power and elegance throughout. This is beautifully structured and extremely expressive, as it possesses outstanding depth and concentration all they way through the long, finessed finish. Year after year, the Columbia Valley Cabernet is one of the most impressive wines, and there is no exception here, as it combines all the wonderful qualities of the 2020 vintage from Quilceda Creek into one expression. This is fantastic already and readers will be in for a real treat, as this simply marvelous wine will continue to deliver the goods for years to come.”
Not Eligible for Futher Discount-From famed winemaker, Robert Foley comes an absolute delight of a bottle of wine. A seamless Bordeaux blend of 80% Cabernet, 17% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot that is incredibly smoothly now but should have another decade easy of prime drinking. It is the definition of a Saturday Night bottle of wine. One to cherish for a special occasion.
Anne Sery describes her Trousse Chemise Cabernets as an ode to the Left Bank and her winemaking roots. It’s a beautiful and fresh Cabernet with aromas that leap from the glass with of black raspberry, violets, and creme de liquor notes. The mouth gives generous amounts of juicy black fruits at the core with hints of baking spice and a smooth, savory finish. This is a terrific partner for just about anything from hard cheese, to poultry, summer salads, you name it!
