Domaine Vincent Ricard Touraine Sauvignon Blanc Le Petiot 2018

Anyone who enjoys vibrant, low-alcohol white wines from the Old World that deliver incredible quality-price ratio should fill their wine fridges with Le Petiot. When current inventory runs out on wines like Vincent Ricard’s Touraine Sauvignon Blanc, Le Petiot, the 25% tariff will make these either a lot more expensive or just not around anymore as importers choose to focus their sales on wines not affected by the tax.

The Touraine, just west of Sancerre, is a terrific source for crisp and aromatic Sauvignon, originating from vineyards on the southern bank of the Cher River. Vincent’s vines are tended organically in flint-laden, calcareous soil which lends a great brightness to the wine. Le Petiot is made in tank to preserve the inherent fruitiness of Sauvignon.

It is a superb choice for a “cocktail” wine, as an aperitif or to accompany just about anything from sea. The real truth is there is no replacement for wines like this so stock up while we have it at the Tuesday night price!

An Old World treasure, and one of my favorite sauvignon blancs every year. The 2018 is even more crisp than I remember from previous vintages.

Very old vines and tiny yields are the source of this extracted, vibrant Sauvignon Blanc from vineyards in the Loire Valley. Better than most Sancerre, twice its price, Le Petiot has a great depth of flavor and a viscous, satin-like texture. The finish is persistently fruity with a good dose of minerality.

Pair with all types of seafood and goat cheese.
