Christophe et Fils is basically a one man show. Sébastien inherited a tiny parcel (half an acre) in Petit Chablis – from which today’s offer comes. He farms sustainably, hand-harvests, and ferments with native yeast, mostly in steel. Many of the grapes date back to plantings from the 60’s and are located behind the Grand cru slope and Premier crus of the Serein river’s right bank.
The 2022 Petit Chablis has an attractive nose of citrus rind, white flowers, and wet stone. In the palate, the wine is racy and mineral with just a touch of salinity. The hallmark of the great 2022s will be tension and length and Sébastien’s little wine has both in spades. Incredible acidic cut will make this fantastic at the table and a great candidate for short term aging.
The bad news is that there are only miniscule amounts of Sébastien’s wines coming into the states. Lucky for us, due to my passion project to find wines for date night, I reserved my allocation prior to them being snatched up by the NYC Sommelier set.

This is a super elegant Meursault from the family-run estate located in the village of Monthelie, between Volnay and Meursault in the heart of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. It leads with nutty aromas of brioche, fresh butter and delicate citrus and is extremely well structured, long and stylish with great purity of fruit.
Every year, Pierre Sparr’s Alsacian Riesling is one of the top scoring wines in the under $20 category. There’s a consistency there and consumers know they can count on a Riesling that is aromatic, fruity, elegant, clean and vibrant. Pierre Sparr wines are extremely food-friendly especially in the widely praised 2021 vintage where quality rose to an all-time high. It’s a bone-dry beauty with layers of citrus fruits, framed by wet stone and mineral character that adds dimension.
Sonoma Coast is well-known as a cool-climate region, perfect for growing Chardonnay. That’s why it’s such a big deal for Route Stock to transition over for the first time from Carnernos over to here. The newly released 2022 beams freshness and comes packed with a delightful energy in its youth. It has a pale straw color with lime hues. The aromas are of honeysuckle, orange blossom and creme brulee with layers of vanilla and a hint of toffee. The palate is lively yet soft with flavors of lemon cream pie and merange.
92 Points, Wine Enthusiast
This is a huge favorite of folks in the Red Bank area. It’s a bold, unapologetic Chardonnay with juicy notes of peach, lemon sorbet, baking spice and vanilla with a rich, creamy middle and plenty of natural acidity to balance it out. The lemon vanilla finish is perhaps the wine’s calling card or the sheer drinkability of it all. Either way, it’s a Chard that people adore. It’s no wonder Wine Enthusiast called this, “a big win for fans of this bold style”.
