An homage to the great outdoors, Camp Stock is a 90% Wheat Whiskey that also comes 10% straight Rye Whiskey and comes from MGP’s famous fields as well as their own estate in Vermont.
The big thing here is the toasting process where the ‘Camp Stock’ theme comes into play. The team conceptualized the Whiskey from the super popular Solo Stove Yukon 2.0 outdoor fire pit. Solo Stove toasted barrels were actually used during the aging process.
The proprietary Toast W6 and a No. 1 char on new American oak barrels lend a distinctive character that is meant to evoke the warmth of a campfire and making s’mores. That certainly sets this one apart from others, and I think the smoky vibes here add a lot to the final product.

This is my third private barrel of Bourbon that I sourced from Bulleit and my first since 2022. Believe you me, they give you a ton (and I mean a ton) of samples to go through to make up for lost time. The winning combo is something people are going to love. Allow me to introduce you to Barrel #5-B3-82. It’s smooth and layered, with a full creamy mouthfeel and manages to sneak in at 104 Proof. On the nose, I get fresh cut oak, vanilla and brown butter. On the palate, freshly baked banana bread, burnt orange and graham cracker.

“At the helm for Blue Run Spirits’ whiskeys are whiskey director Shaylyn Gammon and liquid advisor Jim Rutledge, who demonstrate their mastery with this blend of three Kentucky bourbons aged 6, 8, and 9 years. Oatmeal raisin cookies and tropical aromas dominate the nose, though dried pineapple is soon overtaken by cinnamon spice, vanilla bean, and grape jelly. The palate is rich with flavors of chocolate and espresso, then playful notes of raspberry syrup. Flourless chocolate cake, more fruit, and a good deal of heat make for a tantalizing finish.”
The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino from Aleramici hits all the right notes. It has a nice medium weight to it with easy drinking cherry, creme de cassis and purple fruits. It’s multi-dimensional with waves of some dark plum and blackberry with more sage and spice components as well that compliment it perfectly.
The 2021 Atlas Peak Cabernet is a classic. It’s black in color, with a dynamic nose of cassis, cedar, and chocolate-tinged purple fruit. The wine is fabulously concentrated with a firm, solid finish that speaks to its potential for considerable aging. Ry hit this one out of the park.
